Some Key Factors I am Witnessing That Make This System so Intriguing and Effective:
The nearly 50 years of research set into motion by Hall of Fame Instructor Mike Adams way back in the 70’s already, involving a host of top Biomechanists and even two top Orthopedic Surgeons, only culminated fairly recently. It answers so many questions that we just did not have the answers to before - especially when it comes to the grip - to me the description of the grip now is nearly laughably logical and simple as opposed to our previous limited understanding of it. The days of “one-size-fits-all” grips are over - as also are one set of swing positions for everyone, ironically since the natural grip / trail arm action influences so many of the positions in any case, as do the arm lengths.
Staying with the grip - from what I have seen so far in applying the system, the grip’s influence on any golfers game (good or bad) must be close to 90% if not more. Once I have set either one or two grip positions for a client, at least one and often all of the most vital pieces of FlightScope data i.e. path; face to path, angle of attack and clubhead speed, instantly start to improve with no other input from me.
Since its publication is so recent, many people including coaches, will not have come across all of this information yet - the next few years will be very enlightening for many people as it becomes more known and understood worldwide.
The system follows a strategic and logical sequence which leaves no stone unturned and saves both client and coach a lot of time since it cuts out experimentation, and makes sure the coach cannot mistakenly lead the client down a damaging path.
I have come to realize that most players are in fact not too far from a more optimal game. The issue lies in the fact that they simply did not know which minor adjustments were necessary for significant improvement. This is most understandable considering the overwhelming amount of information available today, which is often under researched and contradictory, and most often works for the information giver rather than the individual seeing or receiving it. I have a lot of empathy for this since I experienced this very confusion for 23 years since starting to play!
The system strategically frees the client from the restrictions and compensations they have developed due to the mismatched grips and movements. As the restrictions are lifted, accuracy and speed increase before the client even realizes it, and most of the time the feedback is that they feel more comfortable, don’t have to try as hard, and feel that its all much more repeatable. This equates to much more consistency - which is the word I hear most often by far when I ask my clients what they are seeking to improve.
The screenings can begin at age 13, making this extremely advantageous for youngsters since they can save many years of experimenting, and can instead focus more on actually getting better at playing the game.
The system minimizes strain and stress on the muscles and joints, since it lets the player move in the way their bodies were designed to move regardless of what that looks like. This allows my clients to play the game they love with enhanced longevity and reduced chances of chronic pain.
All of this has made me a very happy and confident coach, since it applies so well to all levels of golfer from beginner to tour professional.
